I try to get back for the Boston Marathon every year. I love the event and its fans. I share its spirit with my family, who also revels in the excitement the Marathon brings to town.

This year was the first year I could remember that it was pouring out. Torrential rain and 40 degrees out. Probably the worst weather one can imagine for such an event… the runners’ shoes alone must weigh an extra 5 pounds, not to mention the fact running in wet shoes for 26+ miles sounds like absolute torture.

Rushing from the race to the airport was a cold and wet challenge. 40° and blistering rain, a bad day for commuting to the airport was an awful day for running the race.

My jeans soaked to the core, I patiently navigated my way through Boston’s Logan Airport. Thick Boston accents following me everywhere from an intense police officer’s voice, blaring through loudspeakers governing the space. I hastily looked for something warm and delicious to ease the moment and prepare me for my six hour flight back to sunny warm Pasadena.

Cosi was there waiting for me. With warm energy, the counter staff greeted and actually recommended the roasted turkey club. I took them up on their offer, adding the free side the side of baby carrots.

I rushed to the plane and boarded, hastily taking Cosi’s club sandwich out of my bag and onto my tray table. Warm, crisp, and chewy, the club sandwich from Cosi was packed with turkey. I enjoyed the bacon – decent, for an airport café. Crisp lettuce, too spare tomato… there was nothing exciting about this club sandwich, but I wasn’t looking for anything exciting from Cosi. Just a healthy delicious option great for plane rides.

With all of the ingredients nestled in the panini-styled bread, Cosi made eating and enjoying this club sandwich while on an airplane relatively easy, even if American Airlines gave me less legroom than Spirit Airlines.  Thank you for that, Cosi.

At $8.19, including the side, I appreciated this airport value this meal presented.

And off I was, back to Pasadena, already missing Boston…
