I had booked this trip months prior, taking advantage of Norwegian Air’s inexpensive nonstop flights to Barcelona. I was excited for Lavi‘s bachelor trip, but I was almost more excited for the food extravaganza that was about to embark on. Even though I had just started my new job, this was a trip I couldn’t cancel.

LAX was crazy busy, and I wasn’t excited for Norwegian Air’s low budget food options on my 11+ hour flight to Barcelona. Fortunately, I’ve been to LAX’s international terminal before, and I knew exactly what I wanted: Ink.sack by Chef Michael Voltaggio. Ink.well is one of my favorite restaurants in Los Angeles, and one could only imagine the excitement teeming through me as I found the club sandwich on their menu.

Ink.well is just an incredible restaurant, truly one of my favorites. Rachel and I had wanted to try Ink.sack the last time we were together at LAX, which for as much as we travel, is surprisingly quite seldom. I know it sounds odd even writing this, but it is the truth.

The service at Ink.sack was pretty disgusting, and I hoped the food would be way, way better. I had faith in Michael Voltaggio that somehow the airport hired the staff here while he stuck to the food.

Incredibly delicious, and one of the best airport club sandwiches I’ve had in my entire life. The diametric opposite of the service I was delivered, Ink.sack’s club sandwich spoke to me on so many levels of joyous harmony. Salty, savory, moist, firm… Damn good turkey, damn good bacon, excellent bread selection… this sandwich eluded charisma.

I was so sad to be traveling alone right, simply because I wanted to share this moment with someone else. With all the chaos of LAX around me, I was in a place of zen.

Sadly, the presentation didn’t do justice to the meal, and the overall rating suffered as a result.
