I had only been working at my new WeWork office for a few days when the advertisement splashed on my Instagram feed: a new plant based vegan club sandwiched offered from by Chloe, one block from my office. I’ve been to by Chloe before, I thought it was solid the one time, so a second trip to try their club sandwich seemed like a must.

As I walked into by Chloe, the same advertisement was plastered outside for their club sandwich. The photo along with assortment of unique ingredients took me by surprise and intrigue in person, just as it did online.

Rather than enjoy by Chloe’s club sandwich indoors at their location, I decided to take it up to the terrace on the 9th floor of my WeWork offices, and dine on this dish while soaking up the gorgeous early autumn weather that was enveloping Boston’s Back Bay. Just a stunning day.

A truly unique lineup of plant based vegan ingredients coupled with standard fare: tofu egg salad, diced pickles, shiitake bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, hemp ranch dressing, toasted whole grain sourdough.

With a roster like that, I almost didn’t know where to begin with this review… but all signs quickly pointed to the tofu egg salad, that nearly drowned out all of the other flavors of by Chloe’s club sandwich. Creamy and savory, with a hint of crunch from the diced pickles, while I did like the not egg egg salad, it was overbearing.

As for the other ingredients – they stood out on their own and were great additions sadly overshadowed by the salad. Loved the super crispy shiitake bacon; I could eat those out of a bag of chips. Major lover of the hemp ranch dressing on the toasted whole grain sourdough – what a fantastic sauce to use, I’d love to see more of this in my life. And standard avocado, lettuce and tomato, they could have used better sourcing, they weren’t too delicious – I was really hoping for a deliciously ripe tomato – but alas, at least they didn’t disappoint.

By Chloe’s plant based vegan club sandwich was everything I expected it to be: really unique and kinda confusing but at the end of the day a lovely meal… what I didn’t expect was the mouth full of tofu egg salad in each bite that simply made it challenging to enjoy the other ingredients. But sadly, the ratio of ingredients on this one didn’t match the photo on their website.

The verdict? I will 100% go back to by Chloe… but not for their club sandwich.
