Montreal in February – I turned down a speaking session at a conference in Hawaii to be here with luxury hoteliers soaking up 2026 planning… and I was loving it. A super easy, one hour trip up from Boston, Montreal feels a world away. French influence, from culture to architecture, is found at every corning, and it was only compounded by staying at Sofitel Montreal Golden Mile.
I last stayed at this property 12 years prior during my bachelor party, but the renovations since have left it simply stunning. A prime property in a prime location, Sofitel would be the ideal starting and end point for this three day event.
I arrived in time for lunch on my first day, in time for – as always – meetings in front of my computer as I sat in a desk in my hotel room. Zoom calls do not stop simply because I am not home… for better or worse!
Plated in the plainest fashion possible, the Sofitel Montreal Golden Mile is all steak no sizzle, and in order to get a good photo, I pried the meal apart to reveal its insides. A mountain of stacked ingredients, the chunky chicken breast, extremely moist and coked with perfection, did its best to balance to heaping allotment of salty bacon. A sandwich fit for two hands, each bite down was met with joy, albeit no excitement… the club sandwich was there to do its job and nothing more: feed me.
The side salad was a decent healthy addition, and I did my best to polish off the full meal, knowing I would be fed well during the remainder of this trip.
