Snow Room
Category: Hotel, In-RoomEnjoyed via in room dining at Rittenhouse Square in Philly.
Massive blizzard in Boston dropping two feet of snow with a subsequent two days off of school for our kids, followed by another smaller hit… I had a flight on Delta, flight on American, and a ride on Amtrak all booked for my one-night journey from Boston to Philadelphia. All refundable, which to choose?
As snow fell down in the morning, I took the gamble on my initial plan of an early Delta flight… and it paid off. Slight delay due to de-icing, we were off and away and I was in my suite at the Sofitel Philadelphia just in time for lunch. That’s right: just in time for lunch.
Zoom calls dominated my day until my client meeting later in the afternoon, so I would not be leaving my desk anytime soon. The moment called for in-room dining, and I placed my order for the club sandwich as our all hands meeting proceeded in front of me.
A serious mouthful, the Sofitel Philadelphia club sandwich is first dominated by herb ciabatta, heavy on the herb flavor. Thankfully, this bread was super fluffy, making the bite down easier before I hit the second main portion: protein. Turkey beautifully roasted and sliced with perfection, layered nicely to create juxtaposing texture and flavor against the bacon, albeit the bacon did lack the smoky salty savory I was looking for. Unassuming lettuce and tomato, there for more show than flavor, the aioli did a decent job rounding out the sandwich, creating a content moment for me during a hectic week of life.
The meal came with both French fries as well as a side salad, and I dine on it all, doing my best not to overeat at tonight’s dinner is meant to be one for the books.
I enjoyed my time at the Sofitel Philadelphia at Rittenhouse Square, and simply wish I had more than one night… next time!
