I ended up at Little America Hotel & Resort in Cheyenne, Wyoming thanks to my one of my partner’s great work in tourism for destinations throughout the state.

A 36hr trip door to door, however, did not leave me a lot of time, and as the hours dwindled, I needed to drive back to the Denver airport for my flight back to Los Angeles.

Thanks to an early meeting and missing breakfast, hunger was ever present in my mind and body. With little time to waste and a 2 hour car trip in front of me, I stopped by Carol’s Café and ordered Little America Hotel & Resort’s clubhouse sandwich to go, and followed up on emails patiently awaiting its arrival.

Would I consume it in the car? Or upon arrival to Denver? Perhaps half and half. Either way, I was hungry and ready for the return trip home.

At $9  this club sandwich seemed like fantastic deal. If the ingredients aligned properly, in combination with the care and charm Little America exuded, I’d be a happy camper on my way back home.

I grabbed my club sandwich and walked outside to see almost blizzard like conditions. I decided to go back in, and eat my first half, before driving through this mess to the airport. Driving while eating in snow like this didn’t sound like the safest move…

Fantastic flavors joining in harmony. Everyone has had “applewood smoked bacon,” but this was the first time I could actually taste the applewood smoke – absolutely delicious. Excellent job toasting the sourdough bread. The single slice of cheddar actually added a really nice touch that balanced this meal. While not the most visually appealing way to package this club sandwich for takeaway, its plating really didn’t take anything away from the flavors, especially thanks to the double-toothpicking that kept each quarter together. And to top it off – both literally and figuratively – the French fries had a lovely crispy to them, complete with creamy interior.

Loved the sandwich and I arrived at Denver airport without hunger on my mind – I was content. Although I wasn’t looking forward to landing at LAX at 4:30pm and making the long trip back to Pasadena…
