3 years since my last time in Sydney. Amazingly enough, last time I was flying solo desperately trying to secure business from the Australian government, and this time the Australian government was paying for my entire trip as a member of their data committee… I felt such a sense of pride arriving into the country, reflecting on how much success was beget since the thethe moments prior to covid taking over the world.

I chose my hotel after extensive research. Most properties were similarly priced in Sydney, so it really came down to where exactly I wanted to be (knowing everything in the CBD is a 15 minute walk) and what experience I wanted.

I chose boutique and smack dab in the center, which landed me at the QT Hotel. Super trendy and exuding cool – including the bellman blowing bubbles outside the front entrance – I was really just happy that the room was spacious with a comfortable bed and 0 noise from the hustle and bustle of the outside world. Sydney was ablaze with energy, and it was awe inspiring to see, especially as I compared it to the rest of my travels.

My final night in Sydney was spent enjoying Darling Harbor, lightning off in the distance, the tropical breeze lapping my skin, and crowds of tourists and locals around me flocking to the bars while I people-watched with curiosity. Slowly but surely the lightning encroached and the rain followed, and I found myself dashing homeward bound, narrowly escaping the mammoth sized raindrops engulfing the CBD.

Work was on my agenda as I arrived back at my hotel room, and I couldn’t help but feel that a club sandwich would top off the evening in perfect style – and so I ordered one, perused my emails, and began to work as I awaited my late night snack.

Solid, savory, succulent, and oh so delicious, QT crushed it with their self-titled and wonderfully stacked club sandwich. Juicy, moist chicken (were those tenders??? better than simply breast!)  with a creamy egg whose yolk pulled together the salty yet peppery bacon into the dichotomy of each bite down – wow! The flow of flavors I was experiencing, I simply wasn’t prepared for. The bread though, I was floored by its delectable deliciousness. It was literally the perfect pairing to the overwhelmingly satisfying ingredients that the QT chose to build this club sandwich around,

Mind nearly blown, I was overly content and pleasantly surprised. That didn’t stop me from consuming the nicely crispy yet dreamingly tender French fries that surrounded the QT’s club sandwich. I feel asleep late and, as jetlag does to me, woke up at 3am “ready for the day” and eager to continue my trip to Melbourne.
