Rivages, Sofitel Le Scribe, Paris FR
Flat in Paris
Category: Hotel, RestaurantConsumed with my family at Rivages within the Sofitel Le Scribe, in Paris.
We chose the Sofitel Le Scribe Paris Opéra after extensive research into which would be the most family friendly hotel to kick off our trip to Paris. The property – and more importantly – the service, delivered on this hope beyond our highest of expectations from our immediate arrival and throughout our entire stay.
Kudos to the team and their management for executing on an exceptional, hands on experience. Sofitel Le Scribe clearly wants their guests to remember the hotel, not just Paris, during their visit. I could write several pages that highlighted this, from setting up our boxed strollers, to extra kid-friendly chocolates in our rooms, to turndown service that included a magical tipi, not to mention. Concierge that was overly helpful… what a wonderful time we had.
Paris is a city full of fantastic French restaurants. Each morning we dined at the Sofitel’s extensive buffet breakfast, and each day and night we found boulangeries and bistros to entice our palates.
But on our last day, before our train to Reims, we decided to grab a quick bite at Rivages, the hotel restaurant offering a gastronomic journey… and this was obvious as their children’s offering was a set menu complete with a burrata and tomato appetizer followed by salmon with haricot verts.
I opted for the smoked salmon club sandwich, and we all enjoyed the lovely calming ambiance, while trying to keep our kids from ruining the experience for everyone else.
The Rivages smoked salmon club sandwich was a bit flat, lacking excitement and gastronomic flavors that the restaurant claimed to embrace. Overly fried egg. Bland smoke salmon. Sparse ingredients coupled with too much bread. Sadly, this club sandwich was a solid meh. But fortunately both my kids had wonderful burrata and tomato salads, which I devoured, along with the remaining green beans from their salmon dishes.
We all felt Rivages was a delightful restaurant to escape the hustle of Paris from, but we all agreed their club sandwich felt more like a sliver of smoked salmon tucked neatly in between layers and layers of bread, with limited to no other flavors helping uplift the meal .
