Category: Hotel, In-RoomEnjoyed via in-room dining from JW Marriott in Indianapolis, Indiana!
I booked the JW Marriott many months before our conference, securing a great room at a great rate. And as luck would have it, my wife would be joining me on this business trip – because her company was a sponsor of the conference adjacent to ours.
How ironic and fun is that?!
Marriott’s new app allows you to order room service right from your phone, and while Indianapolis is a quick trip from Boston, we didn’t eat much during our travels, so hunger levels were high and timing was tight as we left the airport and headed to our hotel.
We ordered our in-room dining while we were in the taxi traversing into the city, Rachel selected her salad and I, of course, opted for the club sandwich.
Literally 30 seconds after walking into our room our food arrived – perfect timing! A late lunch 29 floor up overlooking a very flat Indianapolis, solid exciting experience to begin our business trip within the city. I was a bit surprised the in-room dining was delivered in to-go boxes within a brown bag, but I was not yet ready to judge this meal based on that…
Stale, firm yet chewy bread gave way to densely packed slices of ham and turkey, cemented together like a brick of deli meat. Gobs of mayonnaise drowned out whatever flavor may have come from the seemingly ripe tomato.
Did this club sandwich really need both Swiss and cheddar cheese?
Crispy, thick cut bacon immediately became the highlight of this poorly prepared club sandwich, and while disappointment did overcome me, I quickly moved on from the moment, eating up the French fries and getting ready for a fun night out.
Rachel and I wrapped up lunch and departed for separate events for the evening. While I found the JW Marriott comfortable overall, a property I would stay at again, I will never order that club sandwich.
