4 nights in Chicago – I was extremely excited to venture back to this city. While I’ve flown through O’Hare dozens of times, my last visit and only visit to this city was 14 years ago.

Work work and more work would keep me mainly in hotels and event venues during this trip, but I had a feeling I wouldn’t be disappointed… tourism conferences are generally the best of conferences, and seeing many great Chicago venues would be a priority for this trip.

Two hotels were also on the agenda – one night at the Hotel EMC2 near the Magnificent Mile, and three nights at the Marriott Marquis by the conference center. 4 nights of fun, guaranteed.

I arrived at the Marriott Marquis after a day of long, sometimes tiring, but overall invigorating, internal meetings. Eager to hop on my computer, and hungry from the day, I popped up to my room – amazing view – sat down to work, and ordered a club sandwich. 15 minutes later, it arrived in a brown bag, and I dove into what would be described as a takeaway lunch from a faceless sandwich café.

While it tasted better than it looked, the cold, unripe tomato detracted from the overall experience and gave each bite down an overly muted flavor, as did the excessive amount of chipotle aioli. Too much of a good thing can indeed be a bad thing. Bland bread that wasn’t sauced on the top didn’t help the sandwich’s cause at all. Very mediocre, overall, sadly, but it was still filling.

I ate as much as I could, focused on my work, and prepared for the night ahead… which included a big client dinner, so I was safe from hunger for now!
